Barbie Chic at Oscars: Margot Robbie, America Ferrera, and Greta Gerwig Shine

Stars Margot Robbie, America Ferrera, and Greta Gerwig made a statement on the Oscars red carpet, seemingly channeling the essence of the iconic Barbie doll in their attire.

Margot Robbie, known for her role in the movie “Barbie,” showcased a departure from the typical Barbie aesthetic by opting for a striking black gown. However, her co-star America Ferrera stepped into the spotlight wearing a shimmering hot pink dress, reminiscent of Barbie’s signature color.

Despite their contrasting outfits, both Robbie and Ferrera’s dresses shared similarities, as they were crafted by Versace and featured chainmail material. Greta Gerwig, the director of “Barbie,” also joined the theme with her Gucci gown, which exuded an armor-like feel with its crystal mesh design.

This collection of feminine chainmail attire subtly hinted at power dressing, aligning with the movie’s theme of female empowerment. Even the male members of the “Barbie” cast embraced the theme, with Ryan Gosling donning a custom Gucci tuxedo suit adorned with sparkling beading.

Although Ferrera did not secure the Best Supporting Actress award, her outfit resonated with the spirit of her character’s feminist monologue in the film. Reflecting on the significance of her role, Ferrera expressed how the script’s portrayal of societal standards deeply resonated with her and many women.

The Oscars red carpet showcased not only stunning fashion but also a subtle nod to the powerful themes explored in “Barbie.”
