In an effort to further its commitment to sustainability, footwear brand Crocs has rolled out its ‘Old Crocs. New Life’ shoe takeback program across the entire United States, excluding Hawaii and Puerto Rico. This initiative allows customers to return any Crocs footwear, regardless of condition, to designated collection boxes at all Crocs retail and outlet locations.
For added convenience, customers can also request a no-cost mail-back kit via crocs.com/oldcrocsnew.html to send back their used Crocs shoes. As a token of appreciation, those who participate will receive a one-time 10 percent discount on Crocs products, valid for in-store or online purchases.
Deanna Bratter, VP of global head of sustainability at Crocs, Inc, expressed enthusiasm for the program’s expansion, citing lessons learned from the pilot launched in October 2023. The initiative aims to make a significant impact in addressing environmental and social challenges within the footwear industry by keeping shoes out of landfills and promoting reuse through partnerships and product innovation.
Under this program, gently used Crocs will be donated to Soles4Souls, a global non-profit organization fostering local economic growth, while old, unwearable Crocs will be repurposed or upcycled into new products. This initiative aligns with Crocs’ broader strategy to reduce waste across manufacturing, distribution, and end-of-life processes, contributing to the advancement of a circular economy in footwear.
