Strategies for Building Successful Business:

  1. Get the Right Idea: Don’t just get any idea, make sure you get the ideas that will (1) solve a problem for people or meet people’s needs. (2) Make sure people are willing and ready to pay for such idea.

  1. Get the Right Skill: Just as it requires money to get the best of quality, so also it requires skill to be successful at any business endeavor. Skill is the currency of life. You will do yourself a lot of good when you get the right training and skill required for your entrepreneurial dream.

  1. Get the business registered and open a corporate account

  1. Take Action: We have been taught by experience that most of the best opportunities in life are destroyed by procrastination so, do it now. A young man eagerly described what he dreamed of doing for the poor. Said the Master, “When do you propose to make your dream come true?” “As soon as the opportunity arrives.” “Opportunity never arrives,” said the Master. “It’s here.”

  1. Find a Mentor: A mentor is someone who has almost or  perfected what you are trying to start. They will save you a lot of pain and mistakes.

  1. Avoid Impulse Buying: Avoid spending on things you will not need. Also before buying anything, get the right information because some sales people may be lying. Purchasing items when you don’t need them, upgrading when the older version will do, letting suppliers talk you into things you cannot afford, and not budgeting. Make sure the value of what you are getting is bigger or better than what you are giving out.

  1. Use the power of partnership: There is power in partnership. It will help you spend less where you might have spent more. And whenever difficulties arise partnership have a way to make it easier.

  1. Be Ambidextrous: Learn to do some things yourself as a young entrepreneur. It will save you a lot of money as it has done for me and a lot of other small business owners.

  1. Use other people’s skill, talent and time to achieve your dream: A boy and his father were walking along a road when they came across a large stone. The boy said to his father, “Do you think if I use all my strength, I can move this rock?” His father answered, “If you use all your strength I am sure you can do it” The boy began to push the rock. Exerting himself as much as he could, he pushed and pushed. The rock did not move. Discouraged, he said to his father, “You were wrong. I can’t do it.” His father placed his arm around the boy’s shoulder and said, “No, son. You didn’t use all your strength – you didn’t ask me to help.” If you want to achieve all alone you may end up not achieving nothing or you will achieve very little. So get people involved.

  1. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes: Mistakes are part of the learning process. There are certain things you won’t learn until you fail in them. So go ahead and start; even if you make mistakes you will be better off than someone who has not started the business at all. But be careful; some mistakes are costly.

  1. Make up your mind that you will succeed in that business: It is possible for people to believe in you, and you fail and it is possible for people not to believe in you and you succeed. The will to succeed is the greatest asset in the school of success. You may quote success, you may pray success, you may cram all the success secrets in the world but until you make up your mind that you want to be a success you can never succeed. The greatest power God gave to you is in the mind, so put it to work.
