Olukemi Olufunto Badenoch (nee Adegoke), a British-Nigerian has been appointed as ‘Children and Families’ Minister by UK’s Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, as part of his government reshuffle.
39-year old Ms Kemi Badenoch, who was born in Wimbledon, London, spent her childhood in Lagos, Nigeria and the US. Kemi who moved to the UK at age 16, is a British conservative politician and member of the parliament (MP), and has been the MP for Saffron Waldon since 2017.
Having studied systems engineering at Sussex University and has a law degree, she is a software and IT expert. Kemi has work history in the banking sector, with Coutts and RBS.
The minister’s responsibilities include early years policy, which entails inspection and regulation.
Tweeting about her appointment, the mother of two posted on the 29th of July:
