The President of the United Nations General Assembly, María Garces has arrived in Nigeria on a working visit.
She alongside her delegation were received on Monday by officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations office in Abuja.
- Kano State Assembly Moves To Break Kano Emirate Into Four
Kano State House of Assembly has yesterday initiated a move to create four additional Emirate Councils in the State that would elevate the current status of some District Heads to First Class Emirs.
The current debate came on the heels of a petition presented to the House by Salisu Ibrahim Chambers, seeking the nod of the legislators to accede to the demand.

The Sokoto State government has earmarked N380 million on this year’s Ramadan feeding programme. Governor Aminu Tambuwal disclosed Sunday afternoon in Sokoto.
He said an increase was approved from the previous N300 million for the programme in order to create additional feeding centres in the state.

Unknown gunmen have again attacked Plateau Polytechnic Staff quarters located at Heipang in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.
The attack which occurred in the early hours of Monday, the gunmen kidnapped a lady identified as the younger sister of the institution’s Assistant Registrar, Mr Ezekiel Rangs.

The Nigeria Police have detained the governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2018 election in Osun state, Senator Ademola Adeleke (PDP-Osun West).
In a statement on Monday, the campaign organisation said Adeleke had honoured an invitation at the force headquarters in Abuja before he was detained.

In respect to the insecurity situation in Nigeria, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, an apex Igbo socio-culture group, on Monday accused some state governors and elite of being responsible for the insecurity.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), on Monday night, said Ademola Adeleke, the lawmaker representing Osun west senatorial district, was detained in connection with ongoing criminal investigations against him.
