Riga Fashion Week took center stage from April 8 to 11, 2024, transforming Latvia’s capital into a hub of Baltic fashion excellence. Designers from Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and beyond showcased their creativity, with collaborations and floral motifs stealing the spotlight.
The event kicked off at the modern Office Complex Verde before moving to the historic RFW Hall in Hanzas Perons, a former railway warehouse. Alongside captivating runway shows, the week featured exhibitions and educational events across the city.
Fashionistas were treated to a display of feminine elegance, with women’s collections stealing the limelight. Glitter, metallics, leathers, and vinyl were skillfully incorporated into chic ensembles, reflecting the region’s rich cultural heritage.
Collaborations took center stage, with Adidas Latvia teaming up with local brand Baé by Katya Shehurina and Stockmann Department Store partnering with Finnish designer Miia Halmesmaa. These partnerships merged dynamic sportswear with distinctive Baltic aesthetics, creating modern and casual collections.
Stockmann’s collaboration with Halmesmaa showcased vibrant dresses alongside fashion and accessories collections, embodying the brand’s commitment to emerging designers and Nordic roots.
Uzbekistan-born designer Moel Bosh captivated audiences with her collection “Kingdom of Peach Blossoms,” renowned for meticulous hand-embroidery and timeless elegance.
Floral motifs also stole the spotlight, with Iveta Vecmane’s spring/summer 2024 collection enchanting attendees with its soothing neutrals and lush reds. The show began under a veil of rose decorations, celebrating Latvia’s connection to flowers.
Sustainability took center stage, with a focus on ethical practices and responsible manufacturing. Designers embraced slow fashion, prioritizing quality and adopting zero waste principles.
While celebrating Baltic fashion’s creativity and craftsmanship, the industry’s lack of diversity remained a pressing issue. Light-skinned, light-haired models dominated the runway, highlighting the need for greater inclusivity.
