Following his generous donation in 2023, Nigerian star Davido has once again pledged to contribute funds in 2024, in line with his commitment to philanthropy. Known for his mantra “we rise by lifting others,” Davido has promised to donate a sum of ₦300 million to orphanages in Nigeria through his foundation. Making the announcement on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, via his official Instagram account, the Grammy-nominated singer stated, “I and my foundation pledge the sum of 300 million naira to orphanages around Nigeria as my yearly contribution to the nation. Details of disbursement will be provided tomorrow.”
Established in 2022 with the assistance of other charitable organizations, the Davido Adeleke Foundation aims to support vulnerable children in Nigeria. In July 2023, Davido proudly revealed that the foundation had donated over ₦200 million to orphanages across the country, benefiting 13,818 children. He also expressed his commitment to continue donating in 2024, emphasizing the foundation’s mission to make a positive impact on the lives of Nigerians.
This charitable tradition traces back to 2021 when Davido celebrated his birthday by making donations totaling over ₦200 million after sharing his bank account details on his Twitter (now X) page. Following the overwhelming response, Davido announced his plan to donate the entire sum to orphanages across Nigeria, stating, “I am delighted to announce that all the funds received totaling ₦200,000,000 will be donated to orphanages across Nigeria as well as the Paroche Foundation.”
True to his word, Davido disbursed the funds after adding an additional ₦50 million. His consistent dedication to philanthropy reflects his belief in giving back to society and uplifting those in need, embodying the spirit of compassion and generosity.
