Renowned Turkish-born, London-based fashion designer Bora Aksu has clinched this year’s prestigious Goodwood Talent in Fashion Award. Known for his evocative demi-couture pieces that blend romanticism with nostalgia, Aksu’s win marks a significant recognition of rising talent in the industry.

Established by Goodwood Racecourse in collaboration with the British Fashion Council (BFC), the award honors emerging British designers, with Aksu joining the esteemed ranks of past recipients like Sohee Park, Molly Goddard, and Richard Quinn.

Aksu’s selection by a distinguished panel, including The Duke of Richmond and BFC’s chief executive Caroline Rush, underscores his distinct aesthetic characterized by “ultra feminine designs” and a “strong sense of storytelling.”

As part of his prize, Aksu will unveil three exclusive couture gowns inspired by Goodwood’s rich heritage during the opening ceremony of the Qatar Goodwood Festival on July 30. These exquisite creations will find a permanent home at Goodwood House, adding to the illustrious Goodwood Collection.

Expressing his gratitude for the accolade, Aksu remarked, “Receiving this year’s Goodwood Talent in Fashion Award is a profound honor. Goodwood’s storied past, particularly its association with remarkable women, has deeply inspired my creative process. I look forward to infusing my designs with the essence of Goodwood’s history and architecture.”

The Duke of Richmond praised Aksu’s ability to capture the essence of English romance, noting his affinity for vintage and reclaimed fabrics, which aligns seamlessly with Goodwood’s fashion legacy. He emphasized the significance of Aksu’s contribution to the evolving Goodwood Collection, highlighting the designer’s unique storytelling through fashion.
