Armed Gang Abducts Commissioner In North- Central,Nigeria State.

The commissioner was abducted from his home in Tunga town,North-central Nigeria, not long after the abduction of Tegina school children in Niger state.

The Commissioner for Information in Niger State, North-central Nigeria has been abducted by suspected terrorists. Muhammed Sanni Idris was abducted from his home in  Baban Tunga town, Tafa Local Government Area of the state, in the early hours of Monday, Aug. 9.

Mary Noel-Berkje, the spokesperson for Abubakar Bello, the Governor of Niger state, confirmed the abduction. Noel-Berkje said that security forces had begun a search-and-rescue operation. “We hope they will discover him soon and rescue him unharm,” she said.

Wasiu Abiodun, the police spokesperson in the state, also confirmed the incident. The commissioner’s abduction is the latest high-profile case of kidnappings by terror gangs ravaging the region and neighbouring Northwest.
