Davido Returns to His Roots With New Album Oriadé
Afrobeats superstar Davido has officially released his sixth studio album, Oriadé, marking another significant milestone in his career. Released on July 31, 2026, the 13-track project showcases a more authentic African sound, reflecting the singer’s desire to reconnect with the roots of Afrobeats.
The album’s title, Oriadé, is derived from the Yoruba words ori (head or destiny) and adé (crown), symbolizing “the head that wears the crown.” Davido says the project represents his “crown era”—a celebration of purpose, growth, and the success he has achieved after more than 15 years in the music industry.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the album, Davido revealed that he intentionally embraced a distinctly African identity rather than creating music aimed primarily at Western audiences. According to him, Oriadé is a reminder of where Afrobeats originated and a tribute to the culture that shaped his sound.
The album features collaborations with artists including Black Sherif, Leon Thomas, Aya Nakamura, Jazzwrld, GL_Ceejay, and Llona, blending Afrobeats with diverse international influences while introducing emerging African talent to a wider audience.
Beyond the music, Oriadé reflects Davido’s personal evolution. The award-winning singer says he has learned to focus less on criticism and more on making music that is honest, spiritual, and true to his identity. He hopes the project will remind fans of the richness of African music and further cement his legacy as one of Afrobeats’ global pioneers.
